We have an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Ancillary Specialist in our Austin office. The Ancillary Specialist will be the primary resource for our design and sales team members during ancillary bid requests, as well as the main point of contact for vendor relationships. They will be familiar with all the latest trends of ancillary furniture and knowledgeable in the majority of our product lines. The Ancillary Specialist will lead the transition from our current library to an on-line version and ensure an effective implementation.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of one – three years proven experience in sales, design or customer support in commercial furniture or related industry and understanding of the general bid response process.


Ancillary Bid Response

  • Reviews sales management approved bids with salesperson to determine bid response approach
  • Generates list pricing from vendors including all COM’s, specials, freight, fuel surcharges, and any other pricing associated with the selected product line.
  • Requests special pricing from vendor; understands who else has the same or better level of discount.
  • Inputting specifications into CAP.
  • Provide comprehensive, organized bid response including any required product materials, brochures, warranties, LEED information, etc. to marketing for inclusion in formal response and salesperson for discounting.
  • Maintains records of bid response history
  • Vendor Relations and Product Vocabulary
  • Meets with and evaluates other vendor/rep options to understand each vendors capabilities and appropriateness for potential bid package response.
  • Makes recommendations to sales people on ancillary product needs and options.
  • Maintain preferred vendor “go to” list as developed by sales leadership; develop over time “go to” product solutions by product/application type.
  • Assists sales leadership with vendor requirements and requests as required.

On-Line Library

  • With advisement of internal partners, lead the effort to transition our current resource library to online resource.
  • Maintain and update the library.
  • Communicate program enhancements as they become available.
  • Work with on-line library resource to add additional capabilities, problem solve, and provide feedback on on-line library.

Team Activities, Administrative and Professional Development

  • Participates in weekly meetings and complete assigned to-do’s.
  • Participates in training and professional development activities.


  • One – three years proven experience in sales, design or customer support in commercial furniture or related industry
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S) in business, marketing, interior design or related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial furniture industry and product categories and price points.
  • Ability to gather and synthesize information skillfully and provide alternative solutions
  • Excellent group presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi task and manage several projects at one time
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Superior Customer Service skills with ability manage difficult or emotional customer situations; Respond promptly to customer needs
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written, with ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in use of Microsoft Word / Excel / PowerPoint and CAP Design software.
  • Understand business implications of decisions and display orientation to profitability
  • Ability to consistently completes tasks on time while managing shifting priorities

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
